LAB: Biome Survial Activity
Complete the following activity in order
1st) SELECT a number from #1 to #10
Open the Lab Activity worksheet: Biome Survival Activity
2nd) LOCATE: Next look on the MAP
or look at the map on our desk to find your BIOME.
3rd) RESEARCH: I would study my biome by doing research.
Here is a good start: BIOMES of the world Information
4th) WATCH VIDEO: here is one video I found called List major biomes. It does not list all the Biomes but its a good start.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqxNQpajdpQ&list=RDLVhIy0ZlyPPDg&index=2
5th) START THE LAB:
Plane Crash Incident Report:
Your small plane crashed in a biome approximately 150 kilometers (~93 miles) from the nearest town. The pilot was killed in the crash, but you and the other passengers survived. Average travel for an 8 hour day is about 40 miles. YOU must leave the site in order to be rescued. You estimate that it will take you approximatly 3 days to reach the nearest town for help.
It is January and the temperature is normal (average) for that area during that time of year. The plane is completely wrecked, but the following items are scattered around the crash site. YOU can ONLY salvage (pick) 5 items from the plane crash list that was provided. YOU can not select anything else other than wha is on the list provided. Select the 5 items that you want to recover to help you survive. Be sure to consider natural resources, biotic and abiotic, available in your particular biome when selecting these items. Write them down and let the activity begin!
6th) YOU or your group will present your crash site the next day to the class on how you survived.
